Heating and hot water are essential to every educational environment. A reliable system not only creates better conditions for learning, but also helps prevent the risk of closure. When the 361 Degrees team first arrived on site at Ormiston Forge Academy for a boiler replacement project, it soon became apparent that one of the blocks was at risk of losing its heating service.
The problem could have led to a closure, but a speedy procurement process and a close working relationship with a manufacturer that could fulfil a late order meant we were able to quickly propose an approved design. A new system was installed by the end of the summer holidays, so there was no interruption for pupils.
We carried out work at other blocks during term time, working closely with the school to ensure there was no interruption for pupils. The team decommissioned a boiler and calorifier, having identified the possibility of significant savings through the installation of a new water heater.
The result was not only a smooth transition to new systems, but also significant reductions in capital and ongoing expenditure thanks to improved efficiency.
